​Five Adventure Sports to Experience in Darjeeling

1. Paragliding: There are few numbers of paragliding spots . One of them is situated in Jalpahar, besides the famous St. Paul’s School Darjeeling (where few numbers of blockbuster movies where shot). Another one is situated in Delo Hills where one can get a beautiful view of Kalimpong town.

2. Trekking: It is a most adventurous activity among all sports. The trekking route usually starts from a place called Maneybhanjan or Chitrey and goes upto Sandakphu. Sandakphu and Phalut are situated at an altitude of almost 12000 ft. During spring, the trekking journey for you will be gorgeous due to colourful forest covered in Rhododendrons and Magnolias.

3. Rafting: There are two ways to enjoy white water rafting in river Teesta, one is a long trip and other is a short one. The short rafting starts at Melli and ends in Triveni, confluence of Teeta and Rangeet rivers which is almost 12 Km route whereas the long rafting route starts at Tarkhola and ends near Teesta bazaar (almost 20 Km). Teesta and Rangeet are two famous rivers which forms astonishing foaming white water and arrange it perfectly for rafting. Besides River Rafting, this place is also known for fishing.




4. Kayaking: It is a type of adventure sport in which a small canoe is used by a single person to expereincen a river current while continously maintaining ones balance. It is done in Rangeet river from Singla. This kayaking route is almost 1800m but the excitement it garantees is beyond comprehension. The best thing about this sport is that one can plan it in a very short time.

5. Rock Climbing: Rock Climbing is done on Tenzing Rock. The name has come from ‘Tenzing Norgay’, who was one of the first climber of Mount Everest. The rock is almost 30 to 35 ft tall natural rock. It is legend that Tenzing Norgay himself climbed this rock with his bare hands and feet during his childhood. The rock has two sides, one is a slippery side and the other side is usually used for climbing.
